Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Happily, no.

We’ve purposely chosen to bypass insurance, which often allows our patients to receive better, more affordable, and expedited care. We don’t have to follow insurance rules.

By avoiding insurance billing, we can spend more time with patients and have minimal waits. We can save patients money by negotiating lower prices for testing and dispensing medications from our in-house pharmacy at wholesale prices without the astronomical markups.

Should I cancel my health insurance?

Absolutely not. The majority of our patients have health insurance and we would recommend coverage in case of a catastrophic event outside of our control.

If you have a high deductible plan, we can save you money. With our low-cost labs, medications, and imaging services, it would require significant expenses to approach meeting a high deductible. Even with excellent health insurance, our patients often choose not to use it with our practice due to the convenience and affordability we offer.

If we find that a lab or imaging test is cheaper for you by utilizing your insurance (insurance usually pays 100% for mammograms for example), then we would obviously encourage you to use your insurance.

Why should I pay a membership fee when I already have insurance?

The value of our membership reaches far beyond “coverage” for testing or medication. This is truly healthcare reimagined. The quality of care and attentiveness we provide to our patients is unprecedented.

Additionally, we will let you in on a secret: we can almost always get testing and medications cheaper than through insurance. However, if it is more cost-effective or easier for our patients, we also have the option to utilize their insurance for testing or medications.

I’m not sure that I can afford the monthly membership?

There’s a lot of truth to the saying, “you get what you pay for.”

Academic journals have examined outcomes associated with personalized medicine models, such as direct primary care. They have shown that members of these programs have fewer hospitalizations and ER visits.

If you’re content with being rushed out of the doctor’s office, then Simplicity Health is not for you.

If you’re satisfied with the doctor spending less than 5 minutes addressing a potentially life-threatening issue you may be having, then Simplicity Health is not for you.

If you prefer your doctor to stare at a computer screen and only give you partial attention, then Simplicity Health is not for you.

If you want more medication, quick fixes, short answers, and a ‘just do what I tell you’ mentality, then Simplicity Health is not for you.

So if you’re looking for cheap, low-quality healthcare - Simplicity Health is not for you.

Fast food is low-quality and often sloppy without much attention to detail. We are the opposite of that and proud to be that way.

That said, we believe our prices are very reasonable, and you are receiving exceptional value for the services we offer. Consider the monthly cost of household expenses (US Bureau of Labor Statistics):

Restaurants - $166/person/month

Entertainment - $303/person/month

Cable and streaming services - $131/person/month

Cell phone -$61/person/month

What if I decide to cancel my membership?

We’re confident that is strictly a hypothetical question as our members enjoy healthcare the way it should be. However, we do understand that circumstances may arise and cancellation of a membership may be necessary. We ensure a no-hassle termination process. We simply require a 30-day written notice.

Do you practice holistic, integrative or functional medicine?

We do not. Our doctors are highly-focused on practicing evidence-based medicine (EBM) instead. EBM emphasizes using the best available scientific evidence, combined with a physician's clinical expertise and the patient's values and preferences, to make informed decisions about individual patient care. Essentially, it involves integrating the latest research findings into clinical decision-making to ensure patients receive the most effective and appropriate treatments. This approach helps optimize patient outcomes while promoting cost-effectiveness and minimizing potential harm.

If you’re looking for alternative medicine or a hormone clinic, Simplicity Health will not be a good fit for you.

Is Direct Primary Care the same as concierge medicine?

Not exactly, but there are definitely similarities. Both allow the patient to have unprecedented access to their doctor. Both limit the amount of patients within the doctor’s patient panel allowing for longer, more thorough office visits.

However, there are two key distinctions: Concierge models frequently have much higher membership fees. Concierge doctors typically bill insurance, too. This means there are also associated co-pays.

Direct Primary Care is built for everyone. Membership fees tend to be less than concierge medicine fees. DPC practices don’t bill insurance so that we can pass savings on labs, imaging and medication onto the patient.

Do you draw blood in the office?

Yes, we do!

We pride ourselves on making things SIMPLE for you. You won’t need to drive to the lab unless you prefer a dedicated phlebotomist drawing your blood (there may be an associated fee from the lab). Our staff have extensive phlebotomy experience and will always ensure your comfort.

How much does a membership cost?

Diamond - $199/month; no visit fees

Platinum - $129/month; no visit fees

Gold - $79/month; visit fees apply

Under 40 - $49/month; visit fees apply

Child (Under 18) - $49/month

We offer a 10% discount for paying annually.

See our Tier Comparison page for more details.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for my membership?

Many patients have done this successfully and we do accept HSA/FSA payments. This is a very gray area in the IRS tax code and we are currently unaware of any audits that have ever been triggered by this arrangement. We anticipate that pending legislation will soon make this a resounding “yes.” However, in the meantime, we recommend that you consult with your benefits manager or accountant.
